This episode is quite fun and reminded me of Mago Mago Arashi's 'Totsugeki Bangohan' segment. The only difference from MMA is that this totsugeki segment is done in the luxury restaurant, not at somebody's household. Off course before that we have our home garden recipe. This time it's a very simple recipe but honestly I've never thought that it'll go well together :).

Aiba-chan began with there're space not used yet in the house for growing greenies... *gasp* where can that be?
We have empty drawers ready to be used in the empty house LOL
So, there are plants where we can grow in the dark place

Meet the greenies #28, toumyou (I'll assume this is soybean sprout based on literal translation).
Watabe love this XD

soybean sprout is endoumame (green peas) young leaves. So how do you do it?

1. Spread over the beans on the sponge

2. Then soak the beans with water. They put the water until it's quite overflow. This is similar to growing beansprout using face cotton LOL.

3. Then leave it behind in the dark place aka drawer.
Then Aiba-chan making the praying for abundant harvest pose XD yes yes the silent style of 'okiini naare'

4. Each day, change the water and keep growing it at the dark place
5. Then grow it outside after 5 days

Then you'll see this grow from 5 days to 10 days

Within 10 days it'll grow from 2cm to 9.5cm and it's still growing. Oh this is yummy... so what beans should I use for this again?

This week's recipe is about mint. So what will Aiba-chan make?
Aiba-chan: Let's make coffee
me: heeeeeeee shiranai...

1. Put coffee beans in
2. Put the mint leaves in

3. Then pour in hot water and we're done
And we have pretty CCTV angle shot

So how does mint coffee taste?

Aiba-chan: it's mysterious taste... The coffee blends well with the mint.

So, the taste is kind of 50-50. with coffee comes first then the mint.
Sawabe: you'll know it when you do it
Aiba-chan: you can do it right away

So, recipe #4: Mint leaves 7-8 pieces; coffee 30gr; hot water 450ml.
Do try XD
And now we're moving to the 2nd segment!!!

At Nihonbashi, 2pm, Aiba-chan is moving quietly with Mori-san (!!! MMA revival!!!)
They're arriving at the posh high class restaurant serving traditional Japanese food (kaiseki type)..

So, this segment is basically Aiba-chan and Mori-san will do a surprise 'attack' on the staffs and making the staff lunches (I assume this is what makanai actually means in hear -- dictionary shows it means meals)

So here's the plan in animation. Aiba-chan surprise the staffs, Using what's available in the restaurant, he'll make makanai for the staffs. Sounds simple enough?

There's not much time to spare so they should get started...

Well off course the servers know who just walks into their shop, ne :p look at how happy and giddy they are.

I think one of them is actually Aiba-chan's fan. And they really squeel when Aiba-chan moving closer. Ah, it doesn't matter where he is LOL...

Aiba-chan: Is there any makanai that you like so far?
Server: Demiglace sauce hamburger steak...
Aiba-chan: wow that's like variety of food that you guys have
Mori-san: well that's because you're using the left over material

Bonus cap: he's so nice smiling and nodding to the server, bet he just gained another several new fans after this...

So, they have to make makanai for 12 pax and they only have time about 3pm to do everything so that people can eat at 3.30pm and have time until 4pm because at 4pm the staff need to start the prep work for the night hours.

Aiba-chan: what time is it now?
Looking at the time now it's already 2.15pm.
Aiba-chan: (panick) then we only have 1 hour!
Mori-san: this feels really REAL
LOL

They quickly invaded the kitchen, the staff're literally perplexed to see a national idol in their kitchen.
And that national idol quickly explained why he's there, which is to make the staff meal for them and please enjoy the meal. LOL he explains so fast that it takes time for the staff to register what Aiba-chan will do in their kitchen.

Will these 2 be able to do the job? Onegaishimasu!

So, first step, what's inside the fridge that can be used for makanai?

definitely not uni LOL, ingredient #1 is the fish heads

next for #2 is the scallops' streaks. That's why you see them so round and nice on your plate.

Aiba-chan: So this is also can be used for makanai? Eko desu ne (it's so economical).

Moving on to the meat fridge, they have the waguy beef streaks (left over from steak cuts) and the left over cuts.

Mori-san: we can make hamburger out of this

Then they have ingredient #5, the turnip leaves

And they also have these decorative leaves

These leaves make the food looks nice it's one of the characteristic feature of Japanese cuisine (well, the high end ones).

See the prices, NOT CHEAP!

Suddenly Aiba-chan asked what time it is. Mori-san indicate that it's 2:40pm and Aiba-chan: Now it's not the time to raise the tension by looking at what's inside the fridge!
LOL

So the makanai is made by staff rotation and using the leftover ingredients, they do up a 1 week menu.

And these are the examples. Man, these look much much better than my lunch!!!!

They also have potatoes and carrots and onions, which is the basic ingredients for curry.
Aiba-chan: Let's do curry!

But the shop only have that much curry block, will this be enough?

Aiba-chan is so determine to make the hamburger and he volunteer to ganbatte make the hamburger by mincing the meat from scratch because earlier, the server lady said she likes hamburger.
Are you sure Aiba-chan, you only have less than 1 hour.
For those who don't know, when Japanese say hamburger, they mean hamburger steak, very seldom they'll refer it to McD's hamburger.

Another sheer determination to stick with his choise... curry has to be there and Mori-san suggested potato salad.

This is the plan menu!

And they're left with 40 minutes!!! Crazy!

Aiba-chan seriously ganbatte cutting and mincing the meat

while Mori-san starts boiling the potatoes

Will he make it? That's a lot of meat to mince!

The staffs are seriously worried that they won't get to eat today LOL

Aiba-chan ask the head chef point blank to help him else he won't make it LOL The head chef haven't been making makanai though.

But today is special!

Then the carrots goes to microwave to save time. Yes totally agree, instead of spending 10 minutes, you only need 1 minute and your carrots are ready!

My question is Aiba-chan work so hard on the meat but how can he still look pretty? This is not real!

Head chef: should we use food processor?
Now, obviously Aiba-chan has never thought of mincing meat with food processor for this so he was quite surprised LOL

Aiba-chan: you should have said so earlier!!

And the meat is ready in a jiffy! It's still wagyu beef, no matter how left over it is! Probably this is what goes to MOS burger's torikiri burger (supposedly it's wagyu) LOL.

AIba-chan is showing off to the head chef that he knows how to make hamburger properly from what he've learned from this show. He really puts what he's learned in use!

First, you knead the meat with cold hands (dip your hands in the icey water). Yoku ganbattana!

The heat from our hand will make the meat tough.
Head chef: pro desu ne... hee, Aiba-chan was proud of this hehe...

Then use little bit of oil so that the beef don't stick to your hand and make a throw movement when shaping tha patty to add air.

And you have your hamburger patties.

For the potato salad, first mash the potatoes then add on scramble eggs.

Mori-san is also making the curry and also cutting the turnip leaves,... for??

Aiba-chan was amazed with Mori-san's speed cooking, me too, me too Aiba-chan, it's impressive!

So the scallops are stir fried with the turnip leaves... and mixed into the potato salad, wow, this is new to me!

Hamburger patties are done!

Aiba-chan: this is the hardest Aiba Manabu so far, we've never been pressed by time like this.
I bet he's more greatful now with the whole day location shooting making tofu LOL

Potato salad is done, amazing!

and look at the time, they still have about 20 minutes left

Aiba-chan making the fried fish

Staff posed a question to Mori-san, how would you top up the curry block?

This is Mori-san's idea: mix together curry powder, sugar, salt and flavouring aka MSG. Okay, we can take out the MSG part LOL but this is good idea.

and in a jiffy the curry is done!

Looking at the time, still have 15 minutes and the staffs finally see some lights to their meal.

Mori-san pour in some meat fat to the curry for taste. Good stuff!

Miraculously, they're done! and look at the time!

Mori-san: I'm sweating here more than when I do musical
LOL, yeah, it's that intense!

So we have the meal now (not animation anymore), and how's the feedback?

Itadakimasu ~ expectant looking

Oishiidesu. and look at the happy face.

So, Aiba-chan asked the head chef to give the rating with 3 Manabu as the highest. So what's the rate?

Yokatta Aiba-chan, you get 3 Manabu!
Head chef thought these 2 won't make it LOL
The staff really worked Aiba-chan to the bone with the time pressure. Tthis feels almost like a reality show LOL.

Now Aiba-chan is asking you to submit the recipe to the website! Share the love for greenies!
