This episode is very interesting. It's a simple gardening, but inside your house. It's latching on the idea that we just need to pick our veggies and walk back to the kitchen to cook. Freshness guaranteed!
I like this idea A LOT! Especially with the worries of this and that pestiside, genetically engineered etc etc stuff out there, if we can do our own veggie (well slightly limited due to the space, but still, better than nothing), why not? Especially if it's not that hard. This episode also somewhat answer my question about the excess water aka... potential dengue nest!

My fave trio! So, no matter how you look at it, this is a person's house LOL

First step of making your own veggie garden (saien): choose what veggies you want to have!

So many options with nice packaging, I know definitely SG's not that nice LOL
So apparently long time ago, Arashi use the mini daikon for concert goods XD and see how Aiba-chan holds the seed packet. He's well ingrained in how to promote a product.

Aiba-chan made an attempt to slip on the sunflower seeds to the AD but got caught by Watabe

So in the end they select (top to bottom): cucumber, bokchoy, bittergourd, white turnip, carrot, nappa cabbage, daikon, spinach, mini daikon.. that's a lot!!!

For those plants which are more difficult to grow, we also can buy the seedlings

So, we learn about the companion plants. It's the pairing of plant who compliment each other in terms of warding off insects, diseases etc. First we have tomato-basil, then lettuce - onion, then raddish - carrot.

as for seedlings, we have strawberry, cabbage, ??? (my dictionary doesn't show this, but Aiba-chan made a comment that this one is expensive in the supermarket), spearmint, tomato, pineapple mint, basil, parsley, brokolli and mulukhiya (I have no idea what's this).

They also selected potatoes, onions and olive tree.

Step 2: choose the soil!

So many type of soils. Apparently the soil use for flowers is different from the veggies.

So, they need to have soil with pH balance (i think) and also the grovels for drainage.

Drainage is important

Self explanatory. If you don't have drainage, when you put too much water, you'll spoil your plants.

So to keep them healthy, drainage is important

If we look from this, it looks cool! they have the tank on the bottom that allow the water to be absorbed up? I didn't listen to the explanation properly though... not sure if we have such thing here anyway.

Step 4: what other gardening goods do we have XD

Aiba-chan quickly indicate that he'd like to make the plantation out of kids' pool.

Watabe suggested to use the shopping basket, which sensei quickly rejected as it cannot hold the soil LOL

Aiba-chan pointed another good one, the storage case.

So we're going to use these 2 :)

Aiba-chan interested in the tent. It's used for the green house... inside the house... XD it's gonna be fun!
Green house is used for the summer veggies.

So this is what the construction of the kids' pool would look like after it's done, the water excess supposed to evaporate.

But it's quite a workout to pump the air into the pool LOL. Aiba-chan has sweated quite a lot by now.

So, spread the grovels first then...

add on the 2nd smaller pool.

Aiba-chan is strong, he wanted to throw the big sack (i think it's 10kg) of soil to Watabe and Sawabe, which both of them quickly said 'MURI' LOL

Pour all the soils and we're done with the setting. and start with the planting.

Aiba-chan requested to include catch phrase on the label, instead of just plain veggies names.
So we have 'bagna cauda ninjin' and 'Arashi concert goods hatsuka daikon'. And the daikon seeds are blue!

That's the cool gadget to take out the pot equivalent amount of soil so that you can just dump the seedlings on it. No digging needed.

So we're done with the pool. They divide the pool into 2 parts. 1 part for the seedling and the other part for the seeds.

So next we have the box plantation.

Just like the pool, hole up the base for drainage and place the storage box on top of the grovel...

Then fill in the box with more grovel and soil and done!

So, they're planting potatoes in this. Aiba-chan commented that the potatoes seeds looks like potatoes from the fridge if it's kept long enough..

So they came to the idea to add on the leeks and garlics which can be bought from the grocery shop and...

Everybody eyed Sawabe to go and buy (bullies!).
Aiba-chan: Onegaishimasu
Watabe: Hoihoihoihoihoi
LOL

It started with Sensei saying 'genki ni naare' to the plants, Aiba-chan and Watabe went with the flow...

Aiba-chan must added the extra cuteness with 'oishikunaare!'

Aiba-chan always remembers his member, so while Sawabe was not around, he wrote 'sawabe no you na jagaimo' (=the potatoes like Sawabe?)

Watabe did a half hearted 'oishikunaare!' because the staff provoked it. Nobody was satisfied with the outcome.

So, Aiba-chan did an example and finally Watabe had the approved gag.

So on the top racks we have the leafy herb stuffs like pineapple mint, spearmint, shiso, onions, and on the bottom it's the heavy stuff like daikon, potatoes, turnip.

After they did all this, Sawabe returned and he brought with him leek, garlic and satsumaimo (sweet potatoes). Aiba-chan snarked at him 'what's with the showing off' LOL
He really not good at snarking at people because he keeps his big smile on.

To plan leek, we just need to cut the bottom 5cm and plant half of it underground.

Self explanatory LOL

We use garlic cloves to plan as well...

Also self explanatory...

with the satsuma imo, we just need to cut big, then burry them underneath the soil...

Self explanatory... I love this show LOL...

So, by the end of this episode, they managed to plant 19 types of veggies...

But they haven't done the summer veggies yet...

Next week is building the green house inside the house... this I wanna watch!
Aiba-chan: I want to live here XD

Our house won't be this empty but we can 1 rack of veggie XD
